OMER 31

“Today is thirty-one days which are four weeks and three days of the Omer.”

Theme of the Week: Hod - Glory
Theme of the Day: Tefreit - Beauty
Overall Theme: The Beauty of His Glory

Exd. 13:21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

Exd. 13:22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, [from] before the people.

Deut. 1:33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents [in], in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

Neh. 9:19 Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go.

Isa. 4:5 And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory [shall be] a defence.

To me, this is the Glory of YHWH expressed in such a beautiful way. Imagine the thousands in the Exodus trudging through the desert under a blistering, unforgiving sun. But wait, Here comes a massive cloud that doesn’t move with the rest of the clouds in the sky. And look, it is coming to rest over the people to shade them from the sun. And as the sun sets in the desert we discover the cloud glows and radiates its own heat so as to light the way for night travel in the desert and to keep the freezing temperatures of the night time desert from tormenting His people. This is a perfect example of the Beauty of His Glory.

The Traditional Psalm to read is Psalm 78:17-31:

And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness. And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people? Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel; Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation: Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven. Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full. He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind. He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea: And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations. So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire; They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths, The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.

“Abba YHWH Elohim, Just as Your Glory can kill like a bolt of lightening, it can shade and warm His people gently. Help me to reveal Your Glory to people in such a beautiful way that they can see You in me. In Yeshua’s Name, Ameyn.”
