The
Pre-Adamic Earth
R.
Yehudah ben Shomeyr
(Kris
Shoemaker)
A controversial topic indeed; one of great
fascination and interest but not one of major doctrinal concern or importance
in regards to soteriology (salvation) or any other important doctrine for that
matter. So really, it doesn’t matter what one believes regarding this topic,
but I can’t help but to be convinced of this Pre-Adamic Earth due to the
wording of the Hebrew texts.
Come with me as we explore this fascinating, yet
little discussed and even, for some, taboo topic.
In the beginning
God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void;
and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon
the face of the waters. – Gen. 1:1-2 (KJV)
This
is the origin of everything, God created the various heavens and the earth. The
earth became a chaotic desolation, indistinguishable and a dark obscurity was
down upon the surface of the depths and the Spirit of God brooded over the
surface of the waters.
The word, “create” in verse one is the Hebrew word “bara,”
meaning, to create and form. The implication of the Hebrew is to create out of
nothing with intelligent design.
The word “was” in verse 2 means, “to become.”
“Form” in Hebrew is “tohu” meaning; desolate, worthless,
empty, chaotic, deserted, nothing, unreality. The word “void,” is “bohu” in the
Hebrew and it means; empty, an undistinguishable ruin.
The word, “darkness” means; obscurity, misery, night, dusk.
The word, “upon” in Hebrew has a meaning of pressing downward or against.
If the earth was not originally created desolate, then it
must have been created and later became desolate. Even the English verb “was”
proves that it had to become desolate before it could be desolate.
God only creates perfection, so the first earth had to be
created perfect, complete, whole and habitable before it could be rendered a
desolate, chaotic ruin.
For thus saith the Lord that
created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath
established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am
the Lord;
and there is none else. – Isa. 45:18
It had to first be full of knowledge and light before it
could become an obscure nothingness.
To break down Genesis 1:2 and throwing in all the Hebraic
implications of the language, you get something like this:
“This planet earth that was, was snuffed out
of existence and it became a chaotic, desolate place of undistinguishable ruin
and unreality and was left in dark, unknown, miserable obscurity that was
uninhabitable and this chaos oppressed the surface of the watery abyss and
God’s Breath breezed all over the watery flooded earth.”
Let us look quickly at Genesis 1:28:
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be
fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have
dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every
living thing that moveth upon the earth.
The word, “replenish”
in Hebrew both means, “To be at an end, expire” and to “fill and be fulfilled,
to replenish.” The implication is very clear. The first pre-Adamic earth was
expired, put to an end and the re-created earth was to be replenished and
filled as it (the first pre-Adamic earth) was plentiful prior to its watery
destruction. This further hints that it was also inhabited by reproducing
animal and humanoid life!
Genesis 1:1-2
Hebraically indicates without a doubt that there was a pre-Adamic earth created
prior to the literal six day recreated one that we live on now.
All we know for certain
from the Hebrew is that it was created and for some reason utterly destroyed
and made uninhabitable.
What we DON’T know from
these first two verses of Genesis chapter one is:
· When the Pre-Adamic earth was created, or how
long ago it was created.
· How long it existed prior to its destruction and
watery obliterated state
· Why it was destroyed and…
· Who or what, if anyone or anything inhabited it
This may cause some to
champion the marriage of modern atheistic science and creationism of an earth
that is billions upon billions of years old. And maybe the earth is that old,
but it would not be possible to know scientifically because the Hebrew is clear
that whatever was on this pre-Adamic earth, whether, humanoids, animals, technology
and civilizations was utterly destroyed, leaving behind absolutely no trace
evidence, thus no artifacts or fossils would exist to be found.
Sure, the elements are
there, but in their raw and basic form and you may dig up ancient carbon or
sodium but you wouldn’t be able to tell if it was once a pre-Adamic humanoid,
animal, plant or chair for that matter.
These two verses
between Genesis 1:1-2 and verse 3 are known to theologians as the Gap Theory,
and is named such because there was a creative gap between Genesis 1:2 and
Genesis 1:3. Again, the time span of this obvious gap is unknown between the
first pre-Adamic earth and the recreation of this present earth we live on now.
Many scholars believe
that the events that fill this gap is the angelic, Luciferian rebellion in
heaven. So far we only have canonical Scriptures to go one regarding the
details of the pre-Adamic earth, for Jasher, Jubilees and Enoch and such
apocryphal and psuedopigraphal literature start with creation and the
subsequent fall of a third of the angelic heavenly hosts.
Interestingly enough,
if there were indeed two world-wide floods; the Luciferian (pre-Adamic) and
Noahtic flood that destroyed the earth and according to Peter (II Peter 3:3-13)
this one will be destroyed by fire. It fits the pattern in the Torah, that when
something has been corrupted, tainted and made unclean, one attempts to twice
cleanse it by water, and if that doesn’t work it must be cleansed by fire.
47 The garment also that
the plague of leprosy is in, whether it be a woollen garment, or a linen
garment;
48 Whether it be in the
warp, or woof; of linen, or of woollen; whether in a skin, or in any thing made
of skin;
49 And if the plague be
greenish or reddish in the garment, or in the skin, either in the warp, or in
the woof, or in any thing of skin; it is a plague of leprosy, and shall be
shewed unto the priest:
50 And the priest shall
look upon the plague, and shut up it that hath the plague seven days:
51 And he shall look on
the plague on the seventh day: if the plague be spread in the garment, either
in the warp, or in the woof, or in a skin, or in any work that is made of skin;
the plague is a fretting leprosy; it is unclean.
52 He shall therefore
burn that garment, whether warp or woof, in woollen or in linen, or any thing
of skin, wherein the plague is: for it is a fretting leprosy; it shall be burnt
in the fire.
53 And if the priest
shall look, and, behold, the plague be not spread in the garment, either in the
warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of skin;
54 Then the priest shall
command that they wash the thing wherein the plague is, and he shall shut it up
seven days more:
55 And the priest shall
look on the plague, after that it is washed: and, behold, if the plague have
not changed his colour, and the plague be not spread; it is unclean; thou shalt
burn it in the fire; it is fret inward, whether it be bare within or without.
56 And if the priest
look, and, behold, the plague be somewhat dark after the washing of it; then he
shall rend it out of the garment, or out of the skin, or out of the warp, or
out of the woof:
57 And if it appear
still in the garment, either in the warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of
skin; it is a spreading plague: thou shalt burn that wherein the plague is with
fire.
58 And the garment,
either warp, or woof, or whatsoever thing of skin it be, which thou shalt wash,
if the plague be departed from them, then it shall be washed the second time,
and shall be clean.
59 This is the law of
the plague of leprosy in a garment of woollen or linen, either in the warp, or
woof, or any thing of skins, to pronounce it clean, or to pronounce it unclean.
– Lev. 13:47-59
There are other
passages in the Tanak (Old Testament Scriptures) that speak of the pre-Adamic
earth and its destruction.
Isaiah 14:12-18:
12 How art thou fallen
from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the
ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in
thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars
of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the
north:
14 I will ascend above
the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be
brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee
shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that
made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world
as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of
his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the
nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
In Scripture and
Hebraic Hermeneutics a passage can have up to four meanings; Literal,
Allusions, Applicable and Mystical and or Spiritual. This is why a passage such
as Isaiah 9:6 can be talking about a prophesied earthy king as well as a future
divine Messiah. In much the same way, Isaiah 14:12-18 speaks of the king of
Babylon and likening him to Hellel (Lucifer), also known as the fallen angel we
call Satan or the Devil.
This passage, if read
carefully with the Hebrew taken into consideration, and if one believes that
the angelic rebellion took place between Genesis 1:2 and 3 then this means that
the angel Hellel (Lucifer) was cast out of heaven where God resides, down to
the pre-Adamic earth where apparently nations of humanoid beings lived and
existed.
How
art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut
down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! – Isa. 14:12
Fallen = Naphal, means;
“to fall, be prostrate, droop, to be born, to fall away, sink to be overthrown,
to be thrown or cast down.”
By this word we see
Hellel (Lucifer) was created, “born” in heaven (Ezk. 28:14-15), the realm where
God resides, fell away (rebelled), was subdued (prostrated) and kicked out of
heaven and cast down to the pre-Adamic earth. The word “ground” is the same as
“earth” in Genesis 1:1.
The word for “nations”
is “goy” and it means; “inhabitant, people, populace, tribes,” and of course, “nations,”
implying humanoid, non-angelic inhabitants.
The word “son,” is
“ben,” in Hebrew and it could mean and literal or figurative son and thus we
establish the angels are figurative sons of God (Gen. 6:1-2, Job 1:6-7, 2:1-2).
Isaiah 14:13 “hast
said,” in Hebrew is to angrily huff with ones nostrils.
“Ascend,” means to
mount and rise up, to be lifted up or to be exalted. This implies that Hellel
(Lucifer) was cast down to the pre-Adamic earth and planned a coup de ta
against Adonai, God in Heaven. “My Throne,” is in Hebrew a royal throne,
implying that Hellel (Lucifer) had a seat of power and ruled the pre-Adamic
earth, and he intended to overthrow God and rule heaven as well.
“Above the stars of
God,” in Hebrew implies that he intended to rule over and command the princes
(angels) of God also, the ones who didn’t rebel with him. In Daniel 10:13
angels are referred to as princes.
“I will sit also upon
the mount of the coronations in the sides of the north,” imply Hebraically that
he also intended to rule over God’s Divine Council which is not God, nor human,
nor angels but other divine, heavenly created entities who had godlike powers
and capabilities, lesser Elohim (gods), who also later rebelled against God,
post Babel, after God had given them the responsibility to govern the 70
nations and report back to Him. They rebelled against God and became pagan
deities to the people, such as Baal, Molech, Marduke, Dagon, Ishtar, Tammuz,
and later Allah, Vishnu, Shiva, Zeus, Odin, etc. Hellel (Lucifer) means for his
rule and dominion to encompass the furthest fringes and obscure reaches of
God’s kingdom.
Psalm 82:1 God standeth in the congregation of
the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

the Divine Council please see Dr. Michael Heiser’s work “the Unseen Realm” or
visit www.nakedbiblepodcast.com).
Isaiah 14:14 “will be
like,” tells us that Hellel (Lucifer) himself knows and admits that he is a
finite, limited created being and not infinite, omniscient, omnipotent or
omnipresent like YHWH, but will, at best, resemble, be as close as possible as
he can be to God most High.
Isiah 14:15 “hell” is
“sheol” in Hebrew and means; “depth, abyss, netherworld, realm of the dead,
subterranean.” “Pit,” means; “hole, cistern, dungeon, grave.”
For the King of Babylon
it meant his death. For Hellel (Lucifer) it meant he will lose his power,
rulership and authority over the pre-Adamic earth. On the one hand, hinting at
the pre-Adamic watery destruction and on the other, hinting of an ultimate end of
Satan mentioned in Matt. 25:41 and Rev. 20:10
Then
shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into
everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
And the devil that deceived them was cast into
the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and
shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Isaiah 14:16-17, these
verses imply as did verses 12-13 that the pre-Adamic world was inhabited and
has a civilization of nations and kingdoms that Hellel (Lucifer) corrupted and
turned against Adonai, God. Perhaps along with the fallen angels, Hellel
(Lucifer) mounted a rebellion with the humanoid inhabitants of the pre-Adamic
world, like unto the rebellion of man we read in Gen. 11:1-9 in the account of
the tower of Babel.
In verse 16 the word
“man,” is not “Adam” meaning, “human,” but simply meaning a male or masculine
persona, meaning Hellel (Lucifer) is a masculine spiritual entity.
Verse 17 implies the
reason that the pre-Adamic earth was utterly obliterated. Hellel (Lucifer)
corrupted and turned the inhabitants against Adonai their creator and rebelled.
We see in verse 18 the
implication that the pre-Adamic kingdoms were once something to behold,
“Glory,” means they once had honor and esteem, “everyone,” is the Hebrew word,
“ish,” also meaning “man” or “husband,” implying they were human-like and each
kingdom was unique in culture and tradition.
Verses 19-20 is talking
about a family burial plot, saying the King of Babylon will not be buried with
honor and for Hellel (Lucifer) it implies he is immortal and will exist for all
eternity in an eternal punishment of the lake of fire (Matt. 25:41, Rev.
20:10).
It is theorized that because
of some of the fallen angels cohabitated with women (Gen. 6:1-7) and were
punished and chained (Jude 1:6) and that some of what we call demons or unclean
spirits or familiar spirits are not just the remaining fallen angels but the
disembodied spirits of these fallen pre-Adamic people. Because seeing as these
pre-Adamic spirits no longer have a body, they desire to possess others in
order to feel, to experience and fulfill their lustful and sinful desires such
as; murder, gluttony, sexual perversions and the like. But again it is only
speculation based on these passages and cannot be definitively proven one the
basis of canonical Scriptures alone.
Ezekiel 28:11-17 is
another passage used to support the pre-Adamic earth.
11 Moreover the word of
the Lord came unto me,
saying,
12 Son of man, take up a
lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of
wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 Thou hast been in
Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius,
topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the
emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy
pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed
cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain
of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in
thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of
thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast
sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I
will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Thine heart was
lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of
thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings,
that they may behold thee.
The prophecy is against
the king of Tyre and likens him to the fallen angel Hellel (Lucifer). Hellel
was a perfect, wise, beautiful Cherub class angel, which meant he was a Throne
Guardian angel of YHWH, God.
In verse 12, the word
“perfect,” does not mean that he was perfect in the western sense of the word,
but meant that he was complete, the total package if you will.
Verse 13 mentions Eden.
If we are to understand the fall of Hellel to be between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2,
we must understand just as there is a Jerusalem in Israel today, there will be
a New Jerusalem on the New Earth (II Pet. 3:3-13, Rev. 2:1). Thus there was a
pre-Adamic Eden on earth just as there was one on this earth (Gen. 2:8). The
name Eden means a pleasurable, fruitful, well-watered place in the Aramaic
language.
This passage would
imply that Adonai, God may have given Hellel (seeing as he was wise), dominion
over the pre-Adamic earth, seeing as Eden was in the East (Gen. 2:8) and Hellel
was called the son of the morning (Isa. 14:12) and the sun rises in the east.
If this is so, some
theorize that the angelic race ruled and inhabited the solar system and after
the Luciferian angelic rebellion, Mars became uninhabitable and the proposed
planet which is now an asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter was destroyed; but
again, this is nothing more than tantalizing speculation and cannot be proven
by canonical Scripture. Perhaps a third of all angels; 1/3 inhabited the
pre-Adamic earth, 1/3 inhabited Mars and 1/3 inhabited the planet that is now
our solar systems asteroid belt, who knows?
Verse 13 would also
suggest that Hellel, or his outfit was colorful, jeweled and decked with bells
and chimes and or he was a masterful musician. Seeing as powerful and corrupt
and sometimes overtly satanic the music industry is; this may very well be the
case.
The Hebrew word in
verse 14 for “anointed,” is our word, “messiah,” meaning he was called and
groomed to be a Throne Guardian of Adonai, God. He was to be an angelic guard
or attendant to God at His Throne. “That covereth,” further solidifying his
place as a Throne Guardian angel, because the same verbiage is used when
discussing the imagery of the cherubim that spreads its wings over the Ark of
the Covenant, which has been referred to as God’s Throne on earth.
“Walking up and down the
stones of fire on the holy mountain of God,” suggests Hellel served and had
access to not only God’s Throne room, but His Divine Council Chambers (Psa.
82:1). “Stones of fire,” in Hebrew is, “Fiery pillars,” implying when connected
to other passages, “Divine beings,” as lesser Elohim (gods) as mentioned in
Psalm 82:1.
Verse 15 tells us that
he apparently served YHWH, God and the Divine Council well, ruled the
pre-Adamic earth well, until iniquity or lawlessness, perversity and depravity
was found in him. According to Ezekiel 28:17 and Isaiah 14:13, it was jealous
pride that was the iniquity.
We see in verse 16a
that in the Hebrew, by “thy merchandise” planned or trafficked by propaganda, a
deceptive, underhanded and violent coup of Heaven to dethrone YHWH, God and His
Divine Council.
The later part of verse
16 (b) lets us know Hellel was stripped and demoted of his rank and position,
because he became polluted and perverted (the word “profane” in the KJV) and
the Hebrew also implies sexual deviancy. Perhaps he was cohabitating with the
pre-Adamic race as we see the fallen angels do in Gen. 6:1-4? Thus was kicked
out of the Divine Throne Room and Council Chambers as well as heaven, (v.17)
down to the pre-Adamic earth. Verse 17 again suggests a pre-Adamic civilization
with kingdoms and nations.
