Is This or That Pagan?
By: Yehudah ben Shomeyr
Truth and Reality
seems to be a very tricky thing to determine in this world; especially in the
realm of religion and the supernatural. But actually it’s not all that
difficult. You know how I know what is real? Because there is counterfeit,
there is the sorry replica passing itself of as the real deal. Satan takes what
is God’s and takes it all the way back to its original pagan roots in Babylon,
the original counterfeit religion, puts a little twist on it and sprinkles a
little bit of Jesus on it and calls it “holy”.
There is magic
then there are miracles.
There is psychic
and there is prophetic.
There is religion
and there is relationship.
There is legalism
and there is Torah.
There is Messiah
and there is the Anti-Messiah.
There is the
Zodiac and there is the Gospel in the Stars (See the book by the same name).
There are angels
and there are demons (fallen angels).
I could go on and
on.
However, these are
not Yin and Yang, nor opposites on a spectrum, these are Real and Counterfeit,
Truth and Perversion.
Some believers are
so fearful because they are ignorant, uninformed, and they quickly shun or
dismiss anything strange and unfamiliar for fear of deception or infiltration.
The Scriptures clearly says that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but
of love and a sound mind (2 Tim. 1:7). Nor is G-o the author of confusion (1
Cor. 14:33). And it is the fearful that
will have their place in the Lake of Fire (Rev. 21:8), so is there any reason
or room for fearful Believers!? I am not a Paga-phob (One who fears paganism).
I do not fear the New Age or any other religion, or religious practices or
customs. Because when I see them, I know they are only a counterfeit of
something real. A perversion of some truth and it is my job when I encounter
these things to trace it to its roots. God wants us to be in the know, He wants
us to be able to answer anyone and everyone (1 Pet. 3:15).
It has been
purposed by many so called scholars and theologians that Judaism isn’t the
oldest religion and that others predate it, and further more Judaism has
adopted pagan names and rituals as their own. It doesn’t take a genius to
figure out that if one truly believes the Scriptures as God Holy and Infallible
Word, that it is clear that the Torah and its prescribed teachings and concepts
were there from the very beginning (Because God and His word is eternal John 1)
and that after Babel this knowledge was carried to the far reaches of the earth
and perverted by the various individual people groups to fit their own means
and ends.
Most all cultures
have a worldwide flood story, almost all cultures have a “Holy Family” and
Infant and a Madonna. Most every culture has a god-man figure who was killed
and resurrected (See The Two Babylon’s – Hislop).
The key is to; 1.
Trace any particular custom, practice or doctrine to its point of origin; And
2. Filter all you encounter through the Torah the Foundation of all the
Scriptures.
When one does not
fear the strange, unfamiliar and the unknown when it comes to culture, religion
and philosophy, when one determines not to be ignorant of Satan’s devices (2
Cor. 2:11) one can easily discern truth track whatever is at hand to its root.
One will
inevitably trace anything to one of two sources; Torah, the Word of ADONAI, or
Babylon.
